What people think about Morrison Van at Live

This is the best live DVD I’ve ever heard. 1980 set I like better than the 1974 set but both are great. 1974 set more bluesy with “Bulbs” and “Foggy Mountain Top”. 1980 set is just superb. Lots of songs from the “Common One” album like “Satisfied” and “Summertime in England” sound a thousand times better live. Pee Wee Ellis and Mark Isham are just kickin on songs like “Troubadours” and “Haunts of Ancient Peace”. “Joyous Sound” should’ve been released as a live single from this performance instead of studio would’ve charted better. Put the 1980 set on if you’ve had a bad day. If you’re not feeling good by the end of “Kingdom Hall”, see a doctor. I don’t normally by extra copies of DVDs/cd/etc. But I bought an extra one of this gem just in case it goes out of print like a lot of Van’s CDs. At thirteen bucks is a steal.

I’m not a literary snob. I’ve read McCarthy and Charlaine Harris with almost equal enjoyment. Yeah, I said it. And after reading Twilight, I get the mass appeal. Really, I do. After all, I finished the thing and I’ve put down books that are far superior to this one (so I’m told). But a couple of things discouraged me from reading the others in the series.

-Where’s the blood. Hello. Vampires are supposed to be blood-thirsty, amoral masters of seduction. I read a vampire story and I want some edge. Some debauchery. I get that this is for teens. But COME. ON. It seems that Meyer has manipulated the story and its logistics to the point of ridiculousness. This is where the absence of tension comes in. She has to invent tension between between Bella and Edward because the fact that he’s a vampire is basically irrelevant. So he eats animals. Big deal. So do I. He’s gorgeous and INSTINCTIVELY ADORES her. Of course she digs him. Essentially, there’s no conflict. Well, until the end* of course.

-Bella is completely unlikeable. I don’t want to be her. Even if Edward is hot. A heroine that can’t even walk down the hall without requiring rescue? Ick.

-Edward is completely unlikeable. Trust me, I’ve dated guys like him (possessive, controlling, obsessive). It’s life-altering. Especially when you’re only sixteen years old. I don’t support a book that romanticizes this kind of relationship for an adolescent audience, particularly when the heroine is this passive. Kids are in enough danger these days.

-All of the smothered passion of a Victorian novel but WITHOUT the wit. P&P for example keeps us girls (and guys, I’m sure) reading because of the banter between Elizabeth and Darcy. Well, the banter between Elizabeth and everyone. Never mind that they hardly touch throughout the entire novel. None of that here. There’s no energy.

*-This high-impact, action-packed ending? Where did this come from? Out of nowhere. That’s where. Suddenly, ‘trackers’ appear. Madness ensues. It’s p

Does at the Live House really work?

No complaints at all. A fraction of the price of other cables in stores, and this one works just great for me. Would definitely buy again if I ever need more.

First the bad:
- It sometimes takes over 10 minutes to connect to a satellite. I run in Manhattan and Central Park, maybe it has something to do with the other transmissions in the atmosphere in this city.
- A little bulky in size. I’m a big person, but it still feels like a mini-VCR on my wrist.

Then the good:
- The device is great once it connects to the satellite, it rarely loses its connection.
- The pace is accurate, comparing with some known distances and a regular watch
- The charts and goals on the garmin website when you upload your stats are very intuitive.
- Battery life has been good so far, my longest use has been 5 hours on my bike.
- The ghosting feature to run against my previous run works very well.

Overall, everything has been working great. Just wish the satellite connection was quicker, but that may not necessarily be fault of the device.

Live At Broadway Dance about

I am a college English instructor, and I have taught this book for many semesters now. Not only do my students appreciate that I assign them a contemporary books, but semester after semester, they genuinely enjoy the book – even the students who claim to have never finished a book before. It leads to great discussions in class and well-thought out essays. It’s such a treat when I can find a novel that really inspires me students to read!

I bought this book because I ran out of things to read. I wandered around the store and noticed how much display this book was given to. I purchased it solely based on its popularity.

I started reading it and had a bit of a hard time moving forward. English is not my native tongue and all the circus talk really made my head spin. I took a short break and finished an easy read and then resumed this book. I am glad I did.

I felt very engaged after 1/3 of the book when most of the characters started to build and show their individual qualities. As the book went on, I felt I was also living in this circus train and witnessing all the activities.

My heart definitely melted when they acquired Rosie, the elephant and at the same time, I started loathing the character August for abusing the elephant so much. In addition to that, the performer Walter/Kinko also transformed into this loving person that looked out after others.

About half way through the book, I think almost all readers wanted nothing more than Jacob and Marlena being together and the death of August and Uncle Al. One thing I do believe a good author offers is the connection between the readers and the characters and I definitely felt that engagement with some of them and my heart ached at times as the story continued.

I am not sure if I am a big fan of the Old Jacob. Not that it is bad but I really just did not quite get why it was important to keep his voice in. I did not see how old Jacob has contributed to the book and I think it could do without.

Overall, I enjoyed the book so much and I was very happy to have resumed and finished it. It is a book that broadens your mind and showers you with all the circus knowledge. A fun and great read!

About Romances Tour Live

Mike Patton is the very best. I’m a huge fan and I own the cd of this also. Honestly, it wasn’t one of my faves at first. I still like his heavier stuff more but, seeing him and the band perform this stuff was really cool and I got into it a lot more. I’ve seen him in person 7 times now but, never with John Kaada. Now I wish I would have. Again, if you really like Patton, you already know anything else I could say. It’s Patton and it’s great!!!!
