Spectrum Dominance Totalitarian Full talk
This book, Full Spectrum Dominance: Totalitarian Democracy in the New World Order was the first book written by F. William Engdahl that I have read, and now can say with confidence, that I would be eager to read the others. I liked both Engdahl’s style of writing and critical approach on many positions, despite being actually citizen of the US (if I am not mistaken). The thing that I really liked most in the overall structure and line of the book, is that the author has not played the “insider information” games, but rather managed to refer to the great range of quotations, documents, articles, opinions and just simply circumstances, which also means that any reader can indeed look and verify the positions himself, as everything is published and turns out to be hard not to notice.
The author managed to do an amazing job, collecting and summarizing all the small pieces of information, leaks and sometimes just dropped phrases, building up the whole picture of the current state. Once again, I would like to emphasize that at least for me, the most important moment was reference to all the sources and narration of realities through reading between the lines what is actually published. In this sense, would consider William Engdahl to be in the same group of people, as MIT professor Noam Chomsky, whom I also respect much and try to consider his opinion on many current positions. What I also liked, that the book is very fresh, covering most of the recent events from the more objective view, not from the biased side of the today’s media.

I bought this for my daughter, its a great toy and a very beautiful object and it sounds nice but more experienced reveiwers are right that the strings are stiff and the bridge is high and the bow is too soft. I will have to take it somewhere to get it spruced up so that it is easier to use. but all in all I am glad I bought it.

As a reading teacher, I was so excited to receive the Kindle for Mother’s Day. My husband was excited because he was under the impression it had a light, so no more sleeping wih a book light or end table lamp. The Kandle light was $20.00 , the covers are outrageous-$34.00 and up.
When I showed my middel and high school students, they were like,” Well, what does it do?” I couldn’t find a book at their reading level with the audio feature. So basically, nothing! Half of the books published do not come in Kindle version. So, I bought books to read for next years curriculm. Tons of the books do not have the audio feature. If you upgrade your not far from the I-pad price. I found it to be a disappointment- it definitely is not for reading teachers!

We have a saying here “like water for an elephant” which means a useless gesture. Loosely translated, it means a that there is a certain uselessness to give someone who is VERY poor anything – for the very reason that it will never be enough. The elephants in the wild travel in herds and are usually the first to suck a water hole dry. The metaphor is complete implying the uselessness of bringing a thirsty elephant a bucket of water, or several, to quench its thirst.
As soon as I saw the big top cover I was even more interested. I read once that when circus elephants arrived in a town, many kids would gather and offer to bring water to the elephant so it could drink and they may be rewarded with free tickets. Maybe this was it?? The figure of a man entering a Big top from the side flap, only to see a figure looking in from the main door struck me as if it were something I was not supposed to see. This was the beginning of a mezmerizing journey….
In post-depression America, Jacob Jankowski, a bound-for-glory, then displaced graduate student who tragically loses his parents, home and future in the first breath of the story, is our 23 year old hero that we instantly like and feel sorry for. He impulsively, almost accidentally, joins a circus, instantly realizing how destitute he is. Hard work, hideous living conditions, a life on the rails, BUT food…becomes his reality. In the world that he (and we) is new to, he is forced to see and witness more than meets the normal spectator’s eye. In no time we all face the reality of running a circus instead of watching one.
The screeching of brakes against rails; railcars stuffed with wild and exotic animals as well as straw, manure, closely knit sleeping quarters; townfolk (or Rubes) that come to the show; sensuality, sex, alcoholism; and Uncle Al, the Ringleader/owner/cheat/boss extrordinairre, are just for suckers! These are only the backdrop of a magnificent story. Interwoven is the love, the man, the compa
