Thought for a long time about it. Checked a lot of other devices. Based my decision on the fact that I wanted a reading device and nothing else. After 6 months I am still convinced this is the best I could find. No comparison with other devices I have seen. Took it to the beach during my vacation and simply enjoyed reading and reading without carrying books around. I have it always with me where ever I go. I read so many books I had no space left at home where to put them. Solved it with my new Kindle 2. Hope to see more Italian language books for this device, but will avidly keep reading English books while waiting for it. Might be buying one for my kids at that point.

This is regarding the Audio CDs, NOT THE TEXT. The narrator is so annoying and grating I literally couldn’t listen past the first chapter. Complete waste of money. The way she reads the text makes it sound geared for an 11 year-old, or even younger. It makes you feel like you are listening in on a superficial little girl’s diary. It is obvious they recorded it before Twilight became such a big hit, or they would have put more thought and value into the CDs. Such a disappointment.

I do not want a permanent mount so I opted for the latter. During a long journey, it tends to move forward a little bit, but this is not a constraint to push back a little from time to time. I think this must be provided with a weighted frame, so I’m not complaining. I do not think it’s “ugly” as one critic said, it’s supposed to be utilitarian, not decorative. And it is very easy to remove it from my Garmin so I can secretly out of sight.

All of the good reviews must not be from people who have owned tough solar watches for more than a few years. The solar batteries in these watches tend to die after ~5-7 years and can no longer be charged, so the watch becomes worthless unless you have the expensive battery unit replaced, but that defeats the purpose of the solar battery. It would be cheaper in the long run to just buy the non-solar versions and replace the $5 batteries every few years. I feel like the solar gimmick is a scam by casio in the sense that the battery does not last long enough to warrant the price premium. Although the watches themselves hold up well and have good features, DO NOT buy SOLAR unless you expect to replace it in a few years.

If anyone has owned one of these for longer than 5-7 years without having the battery fail, please post your actual experience as a reply.
